ADHD
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a chronic executive-function disorder. Executive-function includes all of our higher level “adulting” skills like:

-
Planning
-
Initiating and completing tasks
-
Decision-making
-
Prioritizing
-
Impulse control
-
Emotional regulation
-
Self-evaluating
-
Working-memory
Three Main Types of ADHD
1. Predominantly Inattentive (formerly known as ADD)
2. Predominantly Hyperactive
3. Combined Presentation (Inattentive + Hyperactive)
Signs of Executive-function Difficulty
-
Disorganized house and work environment
-
Difficulty managing schedule (e.g., forgetting appointments, double booking, running late etc.)
-
Losing or forgetting items
-
Accidentally interrupting others
-
Forgetting tasks you have committed to
-
Difficulty starting and completing detail oriented + boring tasks
-
Difficulty managing social interactions and relationships
Most of our patients with ADHD have been attempting to cope with their chronic executive-function disorder on their own. The difference between going solo on the latest “ADHD hack” and our services, is that we act as a partner who helps implement sustainable supports that are researched-based and tailored to you.Ultimately, our goal is to help our patients make noticeable life-long changes.”-Allison Phillips, CCC-SLP
